A new program developed by the Council Properties Committee is
taking root! The Eagle Trail Tree Grove is replacing the aging barrier
along the main road at Camp Alaflo with the natural beauty of 100 Crape
Myrtle trees. The first section of 30 trees were planted on October 8
under the direction of Project Manager Kurt Pierce with landscaping
expertise by the Hutton family; Steve, Mary Ann & Hunter.
Eagle Trail Sponsorships are available for $200 per tree and are made in
the name of an Eagle Scout. Additional Eagle Scouts in the same family
can be added for an additional $50 each. Sponsorships include the
purchase and planting of the tree plus a handcrafted name plate at the
base of the tree. Proceeds from the sponsorship are dedicated to camp
maintenance, helping to ensure a great facility for our Scouts. Tree
planting will take place between September and December. Sponsorships
can be made any time until all 100 trees are sponsored.
This program is a very befitting recognition for someone who has
achieved Scouting’s highest rank, the Eagle Scout. Few achieve this
pinnacle of Scouting and they deserve a special recognition at camp. A
letter acknowledging the sponsorship will be sent to the Eagle Scout
being honored.
